Hot Bod

Writing 101 Day 8: Death to Adverbs
Today’s Prompt: Go to a local café, park, or public place and write a piece inspired by something you see.
Today’s twist: write an adverb-free post.

I like walking in parks. It’s the last places in the cities where you could be with nature. It is a favorite spot of joggers and people who exercise. It’s amazing how healthy living through diet and workout is gaining massive fandom. Maybe because of all the diseases plaguing humanity.

“People who go to the gym are insecure.” That was me a few years back. And now, I try to hit the gym at least once a week. Have I grown insecure? I don’t know. Due to high blood pressure caused by stress, I was advised to do more exercise. And as much as it’s for health reason, it’s never bad to get the side effect of getting a hot body.

For a skinny guy like me, I got intimidated the first time I attempted to workout. Yes, attempt because I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do. Those muscled men parading their bulging biceps and triceps, and buffed up bodies were not an encouragement.

And it’s amusing how vain men can get. I know the mirrors around are there to help you make sure you’re doing the proper posture and position, and all that. But some guys can’t help checking themselves out in the mirror. They would do some curl ups then inspect their tummies to see if six packs emerged. A few pushups and they measure their arms if it has increased an inch or something.

So working out does have its entertainment value when your try to observe other people. And it’s also a lot of fun. Plus, I like the feeling of sore muscles. No pain, no gain, as they say. Let’s get physical! Let’s be healthy. But let’s try not to be too narcissistic.
